Loyalty programs and travel: travel startup Topguest acquired by ezRez

topguestAs reported by TheClickBiz.com, ezRez Software, Inc has just acquired still-startupping firm Topguest.

Topguest works with loyalty and rewards programs such as Hilton HHonors, Priority Club, Wyndham Rewards, United MileagePlus and Caesars Total Rewards and with social networks including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Foursquare.
Through Topguest, consumers can get real-world value out of their online activities — in simple terms, you can earn loyalty points just for your checkins, photos and updates. You can then redeem those points for more travel.

Although not world-shaking, the acquisition of a just-out-of-beta startup clearly marks the urgence for bigger player to get a strong hold in the travel market: a crowded niche (and not actually a niche, since its boundaries are quite huge) where conventional online booking has been greatly enhanced by user-generated content, reviews plus geolocation systems.
